Frequently Asked Questions About Workplace Safety

Fire safety, first aid and incident reporting — as a knowledge base

This page answers the questions employees ask most often about safety at work. Use it as a quick reference: find your question, read the short answer and follow the link to the full procedure of your company. Replace the general advice with your own rules and contacts.

1

General questions

— Who is responsible and where to find information

Who is responsible for safety at work?

Everyone. The company provides safe conditions, equipment and training; employees follow procedures, use protective equipment and report hazards.

Where can I find the safety rules?

In the safety section of the intranet and on the notice board on every floor. Your manager will walk you through the rules for your workplace on your first day.

Do I need safety training if I work in an office?

Yes. Office work has its own risks: fire, electrical equipment, slips and trips, and the strain of long hours at a computer.

What should I do if I notice a hazard?

Make the area safe if you can do it without risk — for example, put up a warning sign next to a spill — and report it to your manager or through the reporting form.
